Research

My research sits at the intersection of computational oncology, spatial genomics, and multiomics, and asks why the same molecular intervention does not produce the same outcome in every patient. I trained as a physician first, and that shapes most of what I choose to work on: the computational questions I care about usually started as a clinical one, somewhere on a ward in Osogbo or Ibadan.

Current manuscripts

From Hansch to Diffusion Models: A Methodological Genealogy of Computational Molecular Design

A history of how computational drug design got here, from early QSAR to modern generative approaches. Submitted to Briefings in Bioinformatics, Springer Nature.

EvoMap: An Interactive Dashboard for Geospatial Visualisation of Pathogen Evolution

Open-source tool for visualising pathogen evolution through interactive phylogenetic maps, built for researchers and public health responders who need to read genomic surveillance data without a bioinformatics degree. Submitted to F1000Research.

DEEPTNBC: A Synthetic Lethality-Informed Deep Learning Pipeline for Dual PARP1/BRCA1 Drug Prioritisation in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

A hybrid CNN-BiLSTM pipeline for ranking drug candidates that co-target PARP1 and BRCA1, validated through docking and molecular dynamics.

Published

Outcome of Open Transvesical Prostatectomy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Five-Year Descriptive Study

With C.U. Emele and A.C. Afolabi. Iconic Research and Engineering Journals, 9(9), 1611–1620.

AI for Computational Biology: Highlights from the First BioAI Hackathon at University of Warsaw

BioHackrXiv preprint, contributing author.

DNA Provenance Passport: Cryptographic signing of DNA sequences to reduce the attribution gap in synthetic biology

With T. Sisodiya, N. Rihan, and A. Udawat. Apart Research.

Projects

ÌṢỌ: Sentinel EcN

A fitness-aware synthetic biology framework engineering E. coli Nissle 1917 as a gut sentinel against diarrhoeal pathogens, designed after seeing what preventable paediatric diarrhoeal disease actually costs during clinical training in Osogbo. MIT Media Lab, How to Grow Almost Anything.

EvoMap

Interactive dashboard for viral and bacterial evolution: phylogenetic maps and lineage trees built for non-specialist audiences.

RedDust Reclaimer

Engineering Bacillus subtilis for perchlorate biodegradation in Martian analog environments. Astrobiotech at the edge of what I usually work on, and I like it there.

TRACE

Automated pipeline for transposable element annotation in structural variants from long-read sequencing. Built at Baylor College of Medicine's 7th Pan-Structural Variation Hackathon.

metaViraVerse

Contributed a structural annotation subworkflow to EBI Metagenomics' viral cataloguing pipeline, closing a gap where viromes were characterised at the sequence level but not the protein-structure level.

PhD applications

I'm applying for September 2027 entry, positioning around computational oncology, spatial/single-cell multiomics, and the tumour immune microenvironment. Current targets include groups at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research, DKFZ, and Heidelberg University's SynthImmune cluster, alongside Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral network positions. Full detail on this will live here as applications progress.
